Energetic Capacity Expansion: Heart & Breath For Somatic Opening
(With lush free somatic meditation download at the end)
I know you’ve been feeling it.
We’re going through massive energetic shifts that are stretching our capacity.
Our capacity to receive.
To give.
To surrender, trust, lead, lean in.
To allow ourselves to be supported.
This is a theme that’s been alive in many sessions, women’s circles, and conversations I’ve been part of recently.
If it’s alive for you as well, know you have a powerful ally that’s gonna help you:
facilitate deep energetic expansion and resource yourself during these transition times.
Which - as you know - aren’t exactly sunshine and sparkles.
This powerful ally is your breath.
Your breath is a gateway.
A mystical bridge connecting body, mind, and energy.
Your breath shapes your entire somatic experience.
Think about it:
Air is the element of the heart chakra.
And your breath is directly connected to how you give and how you receive.
The constriction or lightness you feel in your chest…
The openness or collapse you experience in your front body…
The ease or resistance to trusting deeply (yourself, Universe, others)…
The ability to truly receive what you desire and long for…
It’s all connected.
Expansion needs space, and one way you can create that space is through your breath.
Side story, real quick.
During our last Women’s Circle, I was moved to tears.
Not the tears-and-snot kind of cry, but tears of joy.
Everyone was totally immersed, moving with their whole being and heart…
Expressing their essence through movement, without self-editing…
Tuning in with their body, sensations, and soul’s calling…
And in that massive somatic opening, I felt it.
Deep joy. Streaming from pure connection and undiluted presence.
I was moved by the heart of these women and the purity of their intentions. The individual and collective beauty, and the power we all bring into this world.
I was filled with gratitude for being there, for sharing that moment, and for having the privilege to witness pure magic unfold.
One major theme emerged that we explored together:
Heart expansion.
Breathing fully, being seen, trusting, receiving completely.
Which translates in the way you lead and are led, and allow yourself to be supported.
And from that nourishing state, bringing our full magic and whole being to life, into our relationships and our meaningful work.
It made me reflect on how heart, receiving energy, and expansion connect to our breathing.
Inhale: you take in, you receive.
Exhale: you release, you give.
And so I ask you now:
Take a moment now and find your heartbeat.
Place a hand on your heart.
Or rest your fingers wherever you can feel your pulse (like the side of your neck, or your wrist).
Breathe, slow down. Just be present with what you sense.
If you notice you’re feeling rushed or anxious…
maybe about your next meeting, or project, or the tough conversation you’d rather skip, or perhaps because you’ve been working so hard non-stop…
chances are your heart is racing.
And your body, or some parts of your body, are bracing.
So pause and notice your rhythm for a second.
Does it feel tight, open, rushing, soft?
This tuning in is a gentle reality check that brings more presence, more of your delicious presence, to where tension is living in your body.
And as you know, where attention and presence go, energy flows.
Our heart is working so extra hard to keep up with our fast-paced lifestyles.
Never missing a beat. Never complaining.
Overworking so generously. Every. Miraculous. Second.
As you’re reading this and you’re feeling into your heartbeat:
Can you experience deeper compassion and appreciation for all your heart does?
Can you feel that in your heart space now? Like a warm hug spreading into every cell of your being and wrapping all around you.
How would it feel to give thanks to your heart and your body, like you just did…
every day? Knowing this takes less than 30 seconds.
What would become possible if this practice became a sacred non-negotiable routine?
Just as important as brushing your teeth 3x a day.
I think our heart deserves just as much love.
I’d say way more.
So take this moment.
Take a couple of deep, calming breaths.
Relax the muscles around your chest.
Feel any subtle shift.
Maybe your heart starts softening.
Maybe your thoughts are slowing down.
And just like that, you’re in a state of openness, connection, and gratitude.
The beautiful silver lining is that the more you express love and compassion to your heart, and feel connected to yourself, the more you can experience those same feelings with others.
The deeper you can go within, the wider your capacity expands.
Here’s how you can further support your next heart-led expansion:
Notice where and when your breath feels constricted
And where and when it flows with ease, freedom, openness
Take daily moments to soften, slow down, play, move, and connect
Create micro-pockets of spaciousness in your day where you can actually slow down, take a breath, reset and recenter
Practice giving your heart thanks through moments of true presence & connection
These simple practices reshape your nervous system, recalibrate your energy, and help you step into a radically embodied next version of you.
The one who leads with softness.
Receives with trust.
And creates from a full heart.
